"A Sheltered Sea" tells the story of California’s
Marine Life Protection Act - the critical need for its implementation,
the science that defines it, and the interconnecting mosaic
that makes up the coastal ecosystem of California.
The film features Time’s Person of the Planet Dr. Sylvia
Earle and the many researchers, surfers, divers, economists,
fishermen, conservationists, scientists, and ordinary citizens
that are creatively collaborating, sometimes explosively,
to build the first statewide network of Marine Protected Areas
in the world.
It is an effort that has spanned decades –and the future
of California’s marine environment hangs in the balance.
A Safe Place for Kids -
The Mission of Childrens Institute
2009 Telly Award Winner
"A Safe Place for Kids" tells the gripping story
of LA's abused and neglected children, their sometimes violent
homes, and their long journey back into the mainstream of
life. There are thousands of these children - on street corners
and behind latchkeys - in dirty washrooms and grey basements
- waiting for the next body blow - the next angry scream -
or their next meal.
Using powerful images and probing interviews with therapists,
counselors, kids and parents, Narrator Angie Harmon takes
the audience through some of Los Angeles’ most devastated
communities - and reveals a hopeful life for some of our most
vulnerable children.
